Dear Bruce,

I would be both thrilled and honored to have you write music to this poem, Snowflakes! And I most certainly would love to attend the performance!

I write most of my poetry to melodies in my head. I thank God for giving me the words but, OH how I wish he had given me the ability to write the music too! Hence, I am most appreciative of those who can compose and sing! I have to settle instead, for trying to paint the canvases I see and the melodies I hear with my words and rhythms only. I have written many poems to new compositions by composers like yourself so, I understand what you mean about seeing the words and hearing a melody! The music just carries me away and I have to write the words that ebb and flow along with it, trying to capture and express the feelings stirred!

Thank You for this Bruce, it is a wonderful gift and renews my spirit! Please keep me posted and God Bless you and yours!

: Dear Linda Copp,

: I am writing to request permission to compose a choral setting of your beautiful poem, Snowflakes ("Snowflakes spill from heaven's hand..."). Your poetry would be sung, a cappella, by the sweet men and women's voices of the Cantabile Chorale, a member of the National Choral Association, conducted by Rebecca Scott, as a special feature of Cantabile's winter concert in Piscataway, New Jersey. Your name will be prominantly included in all publicity relating to the concert, and of course we would be honored if you could attend.

: I'd love to set this poem! The music flows in and through, the main melody came to me immediately, the harmony will be restrained, elegant, quietly passionate. I truly believe something wonderful will come of this collaboration.

: An emerging, serious composer, I studied at Juilliard, live in New York City, and have composed several choral works, in addition to orchestral and chamber music, solo piano, and several ballet scores. Conductor Scott, the chorus members, and myself all hope you will contact us shortly.

: Thank you very much. Warmest wishes,

: Bruce Lazarus
