Girl In Chains

 This poem talks about imprisonment,
 the chain is the symbol
of the tie that binds you
to those who abuse you
 whether verbally, emotionally, or physically.
When one feels at the mercy of another for their needs
whether physically, such as food and shelter
or emotionally, their love,
that person's control over you
becomes a great shackle,
and is hard to break.
The abuser certainly doesn't want it broken
and this in turn adds to the difficulty of breaking away.
 Breaking away needs courage and support.
