He toyed with an elastic band
made it stretch, and bend,
Until it flew the borders formed,
escaped and tried again.
But, even such a rubber life
must certainly grow tired
And then the silly formless band
finds it's lost, and has not inspired.
For it was just amusement's knock,
a piece of childish joy.
Just a bit too flexible
to ever keep the boy.
And so, as time wore out its life
the elastic soon to find
That bands will always break when stretched
beyond a state of mind.
